Proof of the relationship of Rachel McDonald to Jane Wright and Susan Savin comes from the 1860 Census which shows two of Rachel's children, Edward and David, living with their Aunt Susan and her family. (Notice that "Savin" is misspelled, which found it impossible to find under the correct name, but a search for Edward located him with his Aunt).
Susan's niece Susannah (her sister Rachel's daughter) married a man named James Reside White. This couple had at least eight children before they vanished from the Census forms after 1870. Their two youngest children were born in Chicago, Illinois. Four of those children, Grant, Catharine Selina, John Winters, and Martha were living with Rachel's brother Edward McDonald and his wife Emma at the 1880 Census. (Donald was living with a couple who called him their "adopted son.") The baptism record below shows that Grant, Catharine, Donald, and John Winters White were all baptized in 1877. The parents' names are listed along with their sponsors. Martha Butcher was Susan Wright Savin's daughter Martha, who married John Butcher. Elizabeth Biddle was probably the mother of Edward's wife Emma Biddle McDonald. (Reed McDonald was Edward's son).
Susannah's youngest child Martha was baptized in 1878 at the same church (St. Luke's). Her sponsor was her cousin (Susan's daughter), Martha Butcher.
Susan indicated on one Census form that she was born in New Jersey. However, two of her children indicated she was born in Pennsylvania, and the Death Certificate found for the Susan Savin we believe is Jane Wright's daughter Susan indicates she was born in Bux (Bucks?) County, Pennsylvania.
Susan's older sister Rachel Wright McDonald and her children all indicate that Rachel was born in Pennsylvania.
